Old New Borrowed Blue: Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night & The Beautiful Bridegroom

MetroWest Opera is proud to present the ambitious pairing of Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night by Dominick Argento and The Beautiful Bridegroom by Dan Shore. Both operas explore the story of two women who who find themselves without a husband during the 18th and 19th centuries. Paired together, they work in counterpoint: Miss Havisham relives the past while Terentia, from Bridegroom, thinks towards the future; Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night is a one-woman psychological drama full of ambient orchestration, while The Beautiful Bridegroom has more in common with a comedy of manners and is reminiscent of Mozart.
