O Radiant Dawn

Choral music for the year’s end:  J. S. Bach’s “Singet dem Herrn”, Johannes Brahms’ “O Heiland, reiss die Himmel auf”, Giuseppe Verdi’s “Ave Maria”, James MacMillan’s “O Radiant Dawn”, and Kirche Mechem’s “Island in Space” — a choral setting of the poem written by astronaut Russell Schweikart upon contemplating the Earth from space during the Apollo 9 Mission in March 1968. Also: carols and motets by Gregor Aichinger, Ola Gjeilo, Libby Larsen, Cecilia McDowall, Claudio Monteverdi, and Philip Stopford. Directed by Walter Chapin and Kathryn Currie.
