In the last concert of our 2017- 2018 Music for Peace series, Boston’s newest chamber music ensemble, Chamber Music Boston, featuring Jonathan Cohler (clarinet), Rasa Vitkauskaite (piano), and guests, perform trios for violin, clarinet, and piano including Bartok’s “Contrasts” and Stravinsky’s “L’Histoire du Soldat.” Cohler and Vitkauskaite form today’s leading clarinet-piano duo and have recorded three acclaimed CDs together including American Tribute, Romanza, and Rhapsodie Française.
Donations to support our work for peace are needed in any amount. Supporters donate $250 or more to Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund; they receive two tickets with preferred seating in the first 3 rows to each concert and recognition in the programs. Sponsors donate $500 and receive four tickets; Benefactors donate $1,000 and receive eight tickets.
The audience is invited to join the musicians and Peace Action members at a reception after the concert.
Jonathan Cohler is recognized throughout the world as “an absolute master of the clarinet” (The Clarinet Magazine) and has recorded many renowned CDs. He and Lithuanian pianist Rasa Vitkauskaite form today’s leading clarinet-piano duo. Regarding his newest Weber CD, Fanfare wrote, “If ever a clarinetist exhibited supernatural powers, it would be Jonathan Cohler.” He is Professor of Clarinet and Chamber music at the Longy School of Music of Bard College and is a Vandoren, Rossi, and Royal Global artist. Hailed for “artistry of poetic and observant sensitivity” (Gramophone), Rasa Vitkauskaite is an internationally acclaimed, multiple award-winning pianist.
