Music at Eden's Edge presents Essential Seasonings: Tangy-Sweet October

On Saturday, October 26, we greet the change of season with the third and final concert in the series, Tangy-Sweet October, depicting through music the very essence of Autumn as it arrives on the scenic North Shore. Imagine the tang of burning leaves, the sweet crunch of a fresh apple, the warm gift of a sunny clear day on which horse and rider charge with the hunt over the far meadows.

Featured will be Haydn’s late string quartet “The Rider,” known for its galloping first and last movements, which frame both a slow, thoughtful movement, and a charmingly rustic minuet. The listener might hear in this music the initial burst of an energetic ride into the autumn countryside, a rest in which to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of the landscape, a pause to enjoy a local dance tune, and the ensuing – almost frenetic – final gallop as horses and riders fly full-tilt over the hills and away.

Add in the Mozart “Hunt” Quartet, another famous quartet portraying the fluid and rolling motions of a good canter, and the light show in music offered in the Amy Beach Quartet, and it becomes clear that this concert coming up on October 26 is the perfect chance to listen and hear the fall season in all its brilliant color and energy.

Returning to MEE to lead these string quartets will be our favorite guest artist, renowned violinist Daniel Stepner. We are honored to have him perform on this last concert of the 2019 Chamber Concert Series. Let your imagination join the ride through this most scenic of landscapes!
