Ray Cornils brings his creative and inspiring programming to the Methuen Memorial Music Hall for another Christmas concert. Cornils served for 27 years as the Municipal Organist for Portland, Maine as well as 30 years as the Minister of Music at First Parish Church, UCC in Brunswick, Maine. Cornils served for 27 years as the Municipal Organist for Portland, Maine as well as 30 years as the Minister of Music at First Parish Church, UCC in Brunswick, Maine. He now divides his time between the Maine coast and the Ecuador’s Andes Mountains, while concertizing from time to time.
Joining Cornils are two local trumpeters with outstanding credentials. Robinson Pyle is principal trumpet with the Plymouth Philharmonic. He currently teaches in the Historic Performance Department of Boston University and is on the faculty of the Wellesley Public Schools. He performs extensively on both modern and historic instruments, having appeared with many local and regional ensembles. As a jazz performer, he has played with saxophonist Joe Henderson, trombonist J. J. Johnson, and trumpeter Donald Byrd. He also has numerous recordings and has been featured in radio broadcasts on WGBH, WCRB, WCLV, WKSU, National Public Radio, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and European Community Radio. Greg Gettel is a versatile performer and teacher who has spent over 20 years in the local music scene. Appearing with many local ensembles, his musical interests are broad, including chamber music, theater, and historical performance. He currently teaches for Lexington Community Education and The Waldorf School of Lexington.
