Boston Choral Ensemble performs a major work by the contemporary Scottish composer James MacMillan. Composed in 1993, “Seven Last Words from the Cross” for choir and string orchestra was a landmark piece in his career and is now widely performed because of its dynamic and sensitive setting of the Christian text. We are pairing this with the famous setting of Psalm 51 (the Miserere) by Gregorio Allegri.
