Among Ozu’s most beloved films, Late Spring is often cited as Ozu’s first full articulation of his mature style. 

Among Ozu’s most beloved films, Late Spring is considered the first of the so-called Noriko Trilogy (continued in Early Summer and Tokyo Story) starring Hara Setsuko in the eponymous role as a paradigm of filial piety faced with a serious challenge to her dutifully assumed role. Although parking in Cambridge is difficult (most of the surrounding streets have restricted parking for Cambridge residents only), metered parking on Broadway and Harvard Streets, as well as the rest of Harvard Square, is free after 8pm. Film-goers are encouraged to use public transportation, particularly the MBTA Red Line.
