How Brookline Became Jewish: The Delis That Shaped Us
History with a side of pickles as we explore how food played a part in one town’s culture.
A fascinating conversation about the restaurants and delis that shaped Jewish Brookline with The Jews of Boston co-author Dr. Jonathan Sarna and Dr. Shuly Rubin Schwartz, grand-daughter of the family behind the famed Rubin’s Deli. Rubin’s, Jack and Marion’s, Pick-a-Chick, and now, Zaftigs, have all played a role in shaping the town’s character and have drawn all types of people to Brookline to experience Jewish cooking.
Of course, we can’t talk deli without eating some deli –View more
