Indian Hill Music Kicks Off Headliners Concert Series with Kittel & Co. Friday Oct. 11
Acclaimed String Band Brings Billboard-charting Acoustic Roots Sound to Littleton
Indian Hill Music debuts its new Headliners Concert Series with some of the hottest musicians in roots, jazz, and world music this fall, starting with fiddle phenom Jeremy Kittel and his Kittel & Co. trio on Friday, October 11 at 7:30pm at Indian Hill Music, 36 King Street, Littleton. Concert tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Purchase online at www.indianhillmusic.org or call (978) 486-9524. This concert is sponsored by Omni Properties, LLC.
Composed of outsized talent on fiddle, mandolin, and guitar, Kittel & Co. inhabits the space between classical and acoustic roots, Celtic and bluegrass aesthetics, plus folk and jazz sensibilities. Previously of the Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet, fiddler Jeremy Kittel is a GRAMMY-nominated film composer and has collaborated with such diverse artists as My Morning Jacket, Yo-Yo Ma & the Silk Road Ensemble, and Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn. For the last few years, the Brooklyn-based artist has been diligently building his own repertoire of music for a wholly original new group, three of whom comprise his trio: Kittel; mandolin phenom Josh Pinkham (named “the future of the mandolin” by Mandolin Magazine); and genre-bending guitarist Quinn Bachand (a presidential scholar at Berklee College of Music).
“The guys have an incredible combination of skill and intuition,” says Kittel. “It’s been so moving to be part of a whole, when the music starts taking off and everyone is supporting, balancing, breathing together. In those rare moments, it’s as holy a thing as I’ve ever experienced.”
Prior to the concert, Kittel will also offer an improvisation workshop for players (and fans) of all types of string instruments at 4:30 pm. Combination workshop and concert tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Purchase tickets online at www.indianhillmusic.org or call (978) 486-9524.
The Indian Hill Music Headliners Series presents celebrated contemporary performers from jazz, world music, bluegrass, and beyond in intimate Camilla Blackman Hall at 36 King Street, Littleton. Upcoming concerts include Downbeat and JazzTimes Artist of the Year pianist Vijay Iyer, GRAMMY-nominated fiddler Darol Anger, legendary Boston chanteuse Dominique Eade, and many others.
