While the H.M.S. Pinafore is in harbor, a lowly sailor Ralph Rackstraw falls in love with Josephine, the daughter of Captain Corcoran. Unfortunately, Captain Corcoran had already intended for Josephine to marry Sir Joseph Porter, the First Lord of the Admiralty.
