MassOpera is proud to present our second New Opera Workshop with a concert performance of Dan Shore’s Freedom Ride.
Freedom Ride tells the story of Sylvie Davenport, a young student from New Orleans, as she is drawn into the Civil Rights Movement in the summer of 1961.
We are thrilled to bring back Chicago Opera Theater Music Director, Lidiya Yankovskaya to conduct, and we are thrilled to introduce Emmy Award Nominee and NAACP Award Winner, Tazewell Thompson, to stage direct. Both will lead the premiere production with Chicago Opera Theater in early 2020.
