Free Family Concert and Instrument "Petting Zoo"

Join us for a colorful, creative afternoon of classical music – especially for kids – exploring the intersections of imagination, fantasy, and the natural world. Afterward kids can drum with the Chameleons and try out their instruments.

Where does music come from? Composers draw their inspiration from many sources: streams and snowstorms, grasshoppers and birds, landscapes near and far. Join us for a colorful, creative afternoon of classical music – especially for kids – exploring the intersections of imagination, fantasy, and the natural world, with works by Mozart, Britten, Elizabeth Maconchy, Roberto Sierra, and more. An instrument “Petting Zoo” and demonstration will follow the performance. Children will be able handle and play orchestral instruments as guided by members of Chameleon, and will be encouraged to touch, blow, pluck, bow, and strike.
