As it strives to preserve tradition by crossing it with new artistic forms, the festival will draw from the city’s rich cultural and geographic contexts to establish a synergistic dialogue with its territory and local communities, extending an invitation to direct participation to the city’s population and its visitors.
Fabric Arts Festival proposes to engage the city through a unique and multidisciplinary experience, with an arts circuit stretching over a central area of the city with music concerts, site-specific projects and murals.
In the Festival’s first edition, artists are challenged to reinterpret Fall River, filter it through their artistic language, and create a tangible legacy of contemporary art that will transform the city’s physical and cultural spaces with permanent and ephemeral points of interest. A conscious effort is made to preserve Fall River’s industrial heritage, freshen the city’s cultural bond with Portugal, and promote collaboration between local cultural agents and the Festival’s artists.
