Evening in Vienna, Grand Ball

Step into the past and enjoy an Evening in Vienna, at the Grand Victorian Ball, with music by Spare Parts with Ben Bishop, prompter. Be transported to the magical time when the waltz was king and dances went till dawn. No previous dance experience necessary. Venture onto the dance floor for a rousing polka or sit back and watch the festivities from the balcony, the view is fabulous. Registration also includes dance classes and the vintage bazaar: in the morning we will shop till we drop at the Vintage Bazaar, and after lunch we will review the Nahant Quadrilles and some basic 19th century dance steps to get everyone in shape for the evening’s festivities.

Dances will be a mix of Set Dances, the Nahant Quadrilles, Waltzes, Polkas, and Galops from the second half of the 19^th century. There will be a dance card to keep as a souvenir and there will also be many extra dances not on the card. Period dress of the 19th century is encouraged but not required. Suggested attire is evening wear from 1830-1900; this is a good venue to accommodate a hoop skirt if you’ve been waiting for the opportunity. Changing space will be available.
