Dmitri in the Dark

First, dedicate your attention to Dmitri Shostakovich’s beautiful and scathing String Quartet No. 6, performed in nearly complete darkness. Then listen again as acrobats and aerialists weave the composition into a story. During intermission, enjoy Russian dumplings and beverages.

The production was hatched by graduate students of the Boston University School of Music seeking to bring classical music with a twist to a wider audience. Winners of a 2018 BU College of Fine Arts Spark Grant, the artists will share their work with students of CircusUp! and the Roxbury Youth Orchestra, two non-profit organizations that bring circus arts and classical music to underserved youth in Boston.
