Cree Bruins & Sarah Hollis Perry: Reflecting (Then and Now)

Cree Bruins and Sarah Hollis Perry are collaborating on Reflecting (Then and Now). Sarah worked for many years in the photo lab of Edwin Land at the Polaroid Corporation. Cree grew up in Rochester, New York and has a long family background with Eastman Kodak. Coming from alternate photographic technologies, both artists worked extensively with film and cameras.

Now, reusing the all-but-obsolete materials of earlier photographic production, they create physical structures and digital images with simple forms taken from film photography.

About the Artists

Cree Bruins graduated from the School of Fine Arts in 2001, and has since exhibited in numerous museums and galleries including Danforth Art, deCordova Sculpture Park, MFA Boston, Barbara Krakow, Sculptors Gallery and Mills Gallery. She has been the award recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship, Blance E. Coleman Award, St Botolph Grant-in Aid, Museum of Fine Arts Traveling Fellowship, Yousuf Karsh Prize and an Artadia Award finalist. Cree is currently a member of the Kingston Gallery in Boston.

Sarah Hollis Perry received her Diploma and Fifth Year Certificate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and her BA from Smith College. She has had solo exhibitions at the E. J. Bellocq Gallery at Louisiana Tech; Smith College; and the White Ellery House at the Cape Ann Museum. She has participated in group shows at the Hammond Museum (North Salem, New York), Fluxfactory (Queens, New York), and Wave Hill (Bronx, New York). Honors include the Traveling Fellowship from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Nancy Graves Fellowship at the Millay Colony, and numerous jurors’ awards.
