Artists-at-Large Presents: FOB Dahlke, Photos by Allison Dinner

Reception and Gallery Talk for an exhibit of photos from Afghanistan at the library May 25 to June 30. Freelance Photographer, Allison Dinner was embedded with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at FOB Dahlke in eastern Afghanistan.

Forward Operating Base Dahlke is a new small austere aviation base built by the US military in Afghanistan in 2017. Dahlke specializes in all helicopter airborne operations in support of the Afghan National Army. Since Trump’s new Afghan policy in 2017, airborne operations tripled in 2018 alone despite Afghanistan being one of the most difficult places in the world to fly a helicopter.
