Artist Talk, Tarlin Tells a Tale at Galatea

What is your fondest memory of your father? Or, mother. Do you know who they really are? How you “know” them is no doubt different than how one of their friends do. The paintings in Joanne Tarlin’s current exhibit, Posthumously Blooming, were made while she contemplated who her father was and writings discovered after his death.

Most of the oil paintings and all of the watercolors contain text excerpts from a book her father wrote but never published. The book, The Artist’s Life, is an existential treaty about art, passion, and what it is to truly live. The paintings are an eloquent tribute and lush display of color and mystery.

Ms. Tarlin is a founding member of @theW gallery in Wayland and visiting faculty at Framingham State University. The exhibit runs through July 28 at Galatea Fine Art, 460 Harrison Ave., 6B, Boston. Onsite parking. Handicap accessible.
