Based on the 1992 hit film, Sister Act tells the hilarious story of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, whose life takes a surprising turn after she witnesses a murder and is placed into protective custody in the last place the perps would look— a convent! Trading her flashy wardrobe for a nun’s habit, the nightclub singer finds herself at odds with the rigid lifestyle and an uptight Mother Superior. In time, Deloris discovers how her showy style and singing talents can uplift the convent’s failing choir, but manages to blow her cover. Soon, this nun is on the run from the gang that sent her into hiding…. will she need a miracle to get out of this holy mess?
Sister Act is a delightful musical comedy with an inspiring message about the power of friendship. With original music by eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken and Oscar-nominated lyricist Glenn Slater, Sister Act features a powerful range of soulful anthems, guaranteed to “get the rafters ringing” and have audiences on their feet. ACT’s production is directed by Matt Lundeen, with musical direction by James Ham.
