Aldon Morris, professor of sociology and African American studies at Northwestern University, gives a lecture on Du Bois’s work in formulating American sociology from its inception with the publication of Philadelphia Negro (1898). It is Morris’s contention, as put forth in his book The Scholar Denied: W.E.B.
