30th Annual Organ Benefit Concert at Cathedral

The Cathedral of the Holy Cross will host its 30th annual Organ Benefit Concert performed on and for the upkeep of its enormous 1875, 101-rank, E. & G. G. Hook & Hastings Opus 801 pipe organ on Sunday, October 27 at 3 p.m.

Guest organists from around the greater Boston area will perform on this historic instrument including Carson Cooman, composer-in-residence at The Memorial Church, Harvard University; Mark Dwyer, Church of the Advent; Dr. Janet Hunt, St. John’s Seminary, Boston; Peter Krasinski, international concert organist; and Rosalind Mohnsen, Immaculate Conception, Maden; in addition to Richard J. Clark, director of music and organist for the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Archdiocese of Boston, and director of music emeritus, Leo D. Abbott, FAGO, Ch.M. 

The concert will include performances of works by Widor, Bach, Duruflé, Whitlock, Clark, Rizzotto, Portman, Åberg, and others.

The concert is free. A suggested donation of $20 (or $10 for students and seniors) or of any other amount will be gratefully accepted to benefit the Organ Restoration Fund.
