The Boston French Film Festival

The Boston French Film Festival is the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston most popular film festival and features an eclectic lineup of the best new French cinema. This year’s festival opens with Agnes Varda and JR’s playful documentary Faces Places screened outdoors on the MFA’s Huntington Avenue lawn with music by DJ Dee Diggs. Other highlights include Léa Mysius’s richly lensed Ava, about a teenage girl who learns that she will soon go blind; Xavier Legrand’s heart-pounding domestic drama Custody; and Claire Denis’s luminous romance Let the Sunshine In, with Juliette Binoche. The festival closes on July 29 with the clever costume comedy Return of the Hero, starring Mélanie Laurent (Inglorious Basterds) and Jean Dujardin (The Artist).
