Company Biography

Jo-Mé Dance was founding by Joe Gonzalez and May-Lisa Chandler in February 2011. The organization was originally established with one company (Jo-Mé Dance Company) for teen with limit access to the arts. The company offered classes and choreography for free for inner-city youths to develop their artistic hunger. In 2012 a new addition for growing and professional artist was organized, (Jo-Mé Dance Theatre) where dancers could have an artistic occupancy as a career. After realizing they wanted to open the door to all ages and continue a grow cycle starting at a young age, Jo-Mé Youth Company and Trainees was put into effect in 2013. The 4 companies are modern –contemporary performing companies with 2-3 Season performances annually.  Jo- Mé Dance has performed festivals such as Dance for World Community, River Dance Festival Out Of The Box, Gospel-Fest, Frist Night Boston, and Green-Fest. The company has traveled to North Carolina, New York, Michigan, Philadelphia, Montreal QC, and the New England area to perform their repertory.
