Pretty Good Friends is a production company that develops and produces intelligent comedic programming for television, podcasts, radio, video, and live productions, shows, and festivals.

Co-founded by long-time collaborators Eugene Mirman and Julie Smith Clem, Pretty Good Friends began in 2006 as a weekly comedy show in the basement of Union Hall in Brooklyn. Pretty Good Friends was named "New York's Best Indie Comedy Night" by New York Magazine, and The New York Times called the show, “incredibly personal and really in the spirit of the alternative comedy scene, which is playful, informal and creative.” The show featured appearances from hundreds of comedians coming through NYC, including: Aziz Ansari, John Mulaney, Kristen Schaal, John Oliver, Sarah Silverman, Tig, Mike Birbiglia, Zach Galifiankis, Kumail Nanjiani, and many, many more. 
 
The weekly live show retired back in 2010, but Pretty Good Friends continues as a touring show with appearances at festivals such as Austin’s SXSW, Montreal’s Just For Laughs, and San Francisco’s Sketchfest.  

Our focus has turned to developing and producing programming and content that uses comedy for a greater goal. We create meaningful and funny content, events, and experiences through the scope of intelligent and absurdist humor.  We use comedy as a tool to educate, inform, communicate, and connect – while still inspiring a spirit of fun and irreverence. If a mime, a neurosurgeon, and a young glass blower all voted on their favorite comedy production company, I bet we’d make top 10. Sadly, they don’t, so we’ll never know for sure.

Pretty Good Friends produces StarTalk Live! with Neil deGrasse Tyson, the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, and You’re the Expert.  We’re also producing a TV pilot for truTV, a web series, Dock Talk, for Grist.org, consulting and producing at 90.9 WBUR (Boston’s NPR station), and developing various projects.
