The mission of FirstWorks is to engage audiences and artists in a broad range of performing arts by instigating and promoting presentations, arts creation and arts learning. Believing the performing arts to be of intrinsic value to our civic culture, FirstWorks is committed to enhancing the vibrancy of our community by advancing the performing arts in Rhode Island through celebrations of distinguished and diverse artistic visions. FirstWorks’ year-round programming includes the annual FirstWorks Festival held in Providence each fall, premieres and first appearances in Rhode Island by world-class artists representing dance, music, theatre and new media throughout the year, and the Pixilerations new media fringe festival.
