Formed in 2009 the Cambridge Cooperative Community was started by a group of women working for the City of Cambridge in sex education and advocacy among youths. Concerned by the growing number of young women in their community affected by violence they decided to take action and bring the Vagina Monologues to Cambridge to help empower the women and girls in their own community. The first Cambridge community production of The Vagina Monologues was staged in April of 2010 and raised over $5000 for local women’s advocacy groups. Cambridge Cooperative Community is now dedicated to putting on an annual production of "The Vagina Monologues" in collaboration with V-Day.
